To be honest, I knew nothing about Nepal before moving to India. I probably couldn't have even told you where it was located on a map. But it is the cheapest, closest visa run to make to get out of India. So we went to Nepal for a few days. Kathmandu is the capital and it has some Western restaurants because there are lots of trekkers and tourists that come through. So we were able to eat lots of yummy food and enjoy our time away.
We spent time each day at Himalayan Java.
We walked and walked all over town and up and down all of these little Kathmandu roads.
Durbar Square
We went to the zoo one afternoon. But who needs cages for the animals? This guy was just out roaming around one of the grassy areas...
Funny bird that just stood like this for so long. Maybe he was airing out, it was pretty hot.
18 weeks
(and just in case you were wondering, it will remain a mystery to us if it is a boy or girl! we couldn't find a doctor that would tell us)
This is the road where we stayed... in a little janky guesthouse for the first three nights we were there. But it was very convenient (and loud) to walk right outside and be right in the city and close to all the restaurants.
Tons and tons of little knock off gear stalls. So much fake North Face, Mountain Hardware, Marmot and others gear.
Also tons of little movie shops. We bought our fair share of movies. They were so cheap and good quality!
boudha stupa
Chad's birthday dessert... apple cinnamon momo's with vanilla icecream. YUM- and a very traditional dessert for his birthday :)
We moved hotels for our last two nights and got out of the city a bit and stayed at a hotel with a pool. That felt like a vacation! We spent most of the day at the pool just relaxing. It was wonderful! Cindy had a cake sent to Chad when we arrived at this hotel. so sweet!
I got hooked on these blended ice lemonade drinks
How we spent most mornings... we tried to find a sitting place in the coffee shop next to a fan :)
For our record, here are the places we ate... pretty much our trip was built around where we wanted to eat :)
and then we headed back to India
Such a blessing to have a little time away!
