Valentine's Weekend

This years Valentine's Day celebrations started Friday at school. It is a pretty big holiday for 2nd graders. I sent them home with tons of candy from their classmates and full of sugar. I'm sure their parents loved that! I got a collection of Valentine's gifts from my sweet students...
I also got lots of these kinds...
and one student gave me a dinosaur one that said "You're my prehistoric Valentine". We will pretend he didn't choose that one specifically for me. Some of my students think I'm really old because I was born "before the 2000's."
Chad and I tried out some new recipes this weekend. Chad has gotten into the habit of trying a new recipe/throwing something together each Friday. It is fun to come home to his treats! He made the blueberry muffins this past week. They were delicious... but they called for yogurt, so he used up all of mine. grrrrrr.
I also love, love, love these cake balls (I know no other name for them). I made them for Valentine's day yesterday. There aren't many ingredients involved (1- box of cake mix, 2- frosting, 3- vanilla bark).  You just bake the cake... crumble it in a bowl, mix it with a can of frosting... make the balls (refrigerate them for a while)... then dip them in the melted bark. You can use any combo of cake flavors/frosting. I used red velvet cake and cream cheese frosting to make the Valentine's balls.  I also had some strawberries so I dipped a few of those as well.
Hope you had a great Valentine's Day. I'm sure thankful for my Valentine! He sure is sweet and makes me feel loved!
