We had a fabulous, relaxing weekend this past weekend. We headed down to Oak Island to hang out with the Harpers, Moores and Blalocks. Rachel's Mom has a friend who has a house at Long Beach and he so graciously let us use it for a long weekend. Back in Highschool (and maybe one year in college?) I went with Rach to this house for a week each summer, so it was fun to go back and make new memories. We left early Friday morning. After a pit stop at Starbucks, we hit the road and were beach-bound.
The boys wasted no time getting their poles in the water for a little surf fishing. This is how they spent much of the weekend...
There had been some bad weather/tropical storms the few days before we were there and left some HUGE waves for Friday. It was sunny and warm enough to sit on the beach and enjoy the sun.
The beach house behind us... we did lots of swinging, rocking, reading and talking on the porch.
On Friday night we headed to Calabash for dinner and then to North Myrtle Beach to the outlets (and of course Krispy Kreme).
The boys were back to their fishing spots on Saturday morning.
They caught some interesting things.
Chad caught the first of the sting rays. I had never really seen sting rays caught on a fishing line.
Can I please be back on that swing right now?! "Truth be told" it was my favorite thing to do.
Adam had the best catch of the weekend...
He caught a 17 inch Red Drum.
Our beach set up on Saturday afternoon
Saturday night we went to Southport. I loved the cute little town. It had been a while since I had been there.
Soooo thankful for these sweet friends! I love that we can talk about anything and everything.
so thankful for my sweet husband too :)
The sunset was GORGEOUS Saturday night. Brooke and I had many talks on the porch swing about how incredible our God is and how beautiful and extraordinary His creation is!
Marshall caught the biggest of the sting rays on Sunday morning. They estimated it to be about 5 or 6 pounds.
This ray ("Raymond" as Brooke referred to him) was not happy to be out of his home.
Sadly, around lunch on Sunday, six of us piled in the mini-van (thanks Mom!!) and headed home. Ashley and Adam had to drive down separate because they needed to get back earlier than the rest of us. It was a relaxing, refreshing weekend with wonderful friends. I truly cherish (haha girls) the times we get to spend with them.

Thanks for all the pictures, they're amazing! I will be stealing some of them! Is it strange that we lined up behind our husbands exactly in beach chairs on sat. morning, and then we matched the same order again in the southport pics unintentionally? hmmm... strange, haha! We had a great time and I am so thankful for all of you as well!
Truth be told, I LOVE your pics! haha! And I'm so glad that you introduced everyone to Raymond. He really was a lazy fellow - took him like 10 min to swim away! And looking at those sunset pics brought me right back to the porch and is definitely a reminder of how AWESOME our God is!!
Ash - I'm really impressed that you even noticed the line-up thing. I never would have noticed!
