catch up

We arrived back from our mid-summer excursion with the Summer LINK team on Wednesday morning and are now at the Gainors house where we have internet. yay! It is a little overwhelming to try to update with all that has happened over the past 3 weeks. So here are just a bunch of different pictures from the past couple of weeks and then I will post separately about our excursion trip.
We celebrated July 4 with a party and fireworks.
We spent the day at a friends home and her family made us a delicious "lunch"- we ate around 6:00pm- but it was worth the wait.
Bati, yellow daal  and steamed rice
It is monsoon season!
laundry in the hotel bathtub
we visited an orphanage a couple of times
we went to a university and they did a great presentation for us and made us lunch
we visited the city zoo as another way to try to meet and talk to people
this one is for my dad :) ...

we have drunk a lot of chai and we love it!
(be jealous Tuck!)
We visited another university and they had rangoli designs to welcome us. It was SO FUN to see these because I taught my 2nd graders about rangoli when I taught them about India/communities around the world.
a couple pictures from my class this past Spring...
We have been here for over 4 weeks now. We are still adjusting and learning so much. The 6 week summer team leaves in 2 weeks, so our days/life will look very different after that.
THANK YOU for encouraging and supporting us!

The pictures really help to imagine just a little bit what your world is now like! I am so glad that you are now at a place where you should have much more access to internet - amazing how we depend on it. Thanks for posting - you are so loved!!!

Your pictures are beautiful and amazing. I still can not imagine you being there; it is just so unreal to me that you are living so far away and seeing/living such a different lifestyle. I am curious about all the trash. I miss you and think/pray for you all of the time. Glad you now have internet. love you
