Oh. my. goodness. We have had the BEST time so far! Although it is a bit bittersweet because we should be sharing all of this fun with my family. We realized while we were in the airport on our way to Thailand that this is the first trip we have taken just the two of us since our honeymoon. (3.5 years ago) We have been on lots of trips and get-a-ways over the years, but they have always been with friends or family... which is GREAT and we love!
We took an overnight flight from Delhi to Bangkok and arrived in Thailand around 2:30 am. We hung out at the airport for a couple of hours and then got a taxi to the bus station around 4. After some craziness, we got on a minibus headed down to the beach and arrived at the beach around 8:00 am. Thankfully, our hotel said our room was already ready and let us check in then! We wasted no time getting settled, grabbing a little nap and then heading to the beach for the day.
View from our balcony
Khao Takiab Beach
That night we headed to the Hua Hin Night Market for dinner
We've been eating some GREAT Thai food!
We also visited Starbucks that night. I didn't know there was one in Hua Hin- that was a fun surprise! Much better than instant coffee in Indian restaurants.
Chad and his little bananas
One of my absolute favorite things has been sitting on the balcony with a book or the computer and coffee or diet coke or M&M's. The weather has been perfect and there is a wonderful breeze.
more Khao Takiab beach
They had lots of ponies and horses on the beach that you could ride. They did some funny things to their hair.
For Chad, it doesn't get much better than this...
love all the little fishing villages
On Friday night we went to a little market by our hotel for dinner.
We rented a scooter for Saturday and Sunday so that we could explore on our own a little more. We drove from one end of the beach to the other and stopped lots of places along the way. If I do say so myself, I did pretty good being back on a scooter. Only once did the ride end in tears :)
Hua Hin Beach
So fun to see lots of Christmas decorations
the other side of Khao Takiab
We've seen lots of monks
We visited Monkey Mountain. The monkeys seriously scared me. They were EVERYWHERE. I wanted to leave my helmet on to walk around in case one jumped on my head, but Chad was too embarrassed to walk around with me like that.
They just ran all over the place and jumped all over everything.
Khao Tao Beach- South of Hua Hin... this was the furthest South that we drove
New Year's Eve celebration at our hotel
Burger King breakfast + Starbucks coffee = great start to a day!
We met this little guy walking down a random road. More elephant pictures coming later. I believe they deserve a post of their own :)
Chad's first beef
Thai massages on New Years- 1 hour massage for 300 baht (a little less than $10). This was our first experience in getting a massage, and it was definitely an experience. Chad and I laughed a lot which prompted the little Thai lady to tell us more than once to just "weeeeeeelaxxxxxxxx"
Oh what a relaxing and great time we have had so far. Chiang Mai, here we come!
