I didn't really know until I moved to India that elephants fascinate me. I've always thought they were interesting, but now I just plain love them. They are just so incredibly unique! I look at these huge animals and am just in awe of our Creator! What an extraordinary God we serve!
There were several elephant villages advertised for Hua Hin and so we checked them out on the days we had the scooter. They turned out to be GREAT because there was nobody there and they let us just walk around and feed and play with the elephants for free!
The elephant below was just walking around the village and saw that Chad was holding a bunch of bananas and walked right up and started sniffing around for one.
You can't tell from the pictures, but my legs were shaking from nervousness! They look cute and fun, but they are seriously scary to stand beside. They are just so huge and "you can't tell what they are thinking and that scares me a little bit."
quote :)
We may have visited again the next day because we (I) loved it so much the first day...
I mean really, this is just not something you get to do everyday.
We then decided to go explore up the mountain a little bit more. We are off-the-beaten path kind of people and like to see what life is like away from the touristy stuff. As we were driving, I looked to the right and saw this little man walking down this side road with this baby elephant. So naturally, I started screaming and Chad looked over and we pulled off. The little man was so nice and let us play with his little elephant and watch them walk around. This little elephant was so playful!
My legs didn't shake when we were around this one.
We then watched the little man take him to 3 close-by temples. They would go up, the man would bow and the elephant would lay down and then before he got up, the man would give a command and the little elephant would blow his trumpet (is that what its called when an elephant makes a noise??) about 6 times and then they would get up and go to another temple. f.a.s.c.i.n.a.t.i.n.g.
We played a little more and then were on our way.
This was so exciting and fun for me! Probably ranks pretty high up there on my coolest experiences list.

I love how that little elephant hugs you. Precious! It saddens me though to see all the idols folks worship. Love and prayers!!
elephants are so cool! these pictures are awesome!
I love this. I showed Delaney these this morning and she was impressed that you were around that many elephants!
SO CUTE!! I love the elephants and just can't get over how cute that baby one is. I bet that was so much fun!!
The baby elephant just looks so sweet and friendly :) What a cool experience! That is unreal how he trained it to go and participate at the temples with him.
I love all your journals and what great pictures you take, please keep me posted on more of your fabulous experience. Dee
