grayson: 1 month

Grayson is already 1 month!

It's been a great first month and we just love this little boy so much.
If you don't want to read lots of details, you may want to skip this post :) Since the blog pretty much serves as our documentation, I want to be able to look back at the details.

When we went for his 1 week WCC, Grayson had gone from 7 lb 15 oz (leaving the hospital weight) to 8 lb. 8 oz.  My guess is that he is over 10 pounds now. We go for his 1 month WCC in the morning, so we will see!

He is wearing size 1 diapers and is now starting to fit into some of his 3 month clothes.

He has become a great eater, and I think he's really packed on some pounds (and a few rolls). The first few days of nursing were tough and he wouldn't eat (the lactation specialist said it's probably because right after he was born they stuck the tube down his throat to clear his lungs). I would try to feed him, pump and then feed him with a syringe. Then start the process all over again soon after. Thankfully we got through that (and mastitis...ugh) and he is doing great now. He is eating every 2.5-3.5 hours. At night he goes for about 5-6 hours at a time but a couple nights ago he had a 7 hour span. Hopefully he'll be sleeping through the night soon. Although only getting up once, I really can't complain. He usually wakes up between 4 or 5, eats, and then goes right back to sleep until about 8.

The boy is a hard sleeper (he definitely gets that from me). He takes so long to wake up and sleeps through any noise... hopefully that continues! And he loves to sleep with his arms up. We can tell when he is getting tired or almost asleep because his little arms go up.
Grayson is not a crier. I think we can count on one hand the number of times he cried in his first 2 weeks of life. And he would stop if we picked him up. Around 2 weeks old, we think he sort of "found his cry", but he really doesn't cry that often. I was joking with Chad that the pediatrician would probably laugh in our face if we said "what should we do, every now and then, he cries?"

Several people told me that you can't ruin a baby by holding them too much in the first month, that babies won't develop habits at this age. Well in Grayson's case, I would say that is WRONG! The boy is spoiled! He likes to be held, or in someone's lap or right beside someone. And he totally knows if someone is close or not. Amazing.

Around 2 weeks old, he started lifting his head if we were holding him upright. He had great neck strength for a 2 week old. Although he is a little wobbly, he loves to try to hold it up.
  He is enjoying bath time.
Poor thing has lost his hair, but only on the top of his head. We joke and say he got his hair from his grandfathers. He looks like a bald little old man.  He was born with really light brown, fine hair. We will see if the rest of it falls out, and if his new hair comes in a different color/texture.

We are starting to see some little smiles and loving it!

Here are some other pictures from Grayson's first month...

He is starting to grab things. In this case, he got daddy's ear...
He is such a good baby and brings us so much joy. Can't wait to see what new things month 2 brings!

a few pictures back in his big man pants he looked like he was going to work...and the last pictures he looks like he came home exhausted and ready to rest. They are precious pictures.

Seriously, so cute! He looks so handsome in his little button-up shirt. And you have some really good newborn shots! It's hard to imagine a baby that's not a crier...that's pretty awesome.

What a little man. And so strong lifting his head up already. He'll be crawling around with Bennett before you know it!

And PS - I guess he's grabbing Chad's ear because his hair isn't long enough. All he needs to do now is pop him in the face with the other one. He's already honing his skills ;)
