resurrection rolls

This is the first year we've tried baking the popular resurrection rolls. I used this simple recipe. Any kind of visual is so helpful in teaching (especially a three year old) and the end result being a yummy snack doesn't hurt either :)

We read the crucifixion story, made the rolls, and then read the resurrection story while they baked. The marshmallow represents Jesus and how they put oils (melted butter) and spices (cinnamon sugar) and then placed him in the tomb (rolling up the dough). After they bake, the marshmallow is gone and the roll is empty representing how Jesus defeated the grave and is risen. He's alive today! I love this so much!
