We were able to travel to Durham and spend about 12 days away over Christmas. We enjoyed lots of time with family and a break in the everyday routine.
Here's a bunch of pictures from our time there. I pulled up old Christmas posts from the blog no less than 5 times while we were there, as we were talking and trying to figure out what we had done in previous years... and in those moments, I was so thankful I had documented things! It motivated me to keep blogging :)
My parents were dog sitting my Grandmas dog while she vacationed in Cuba and Panama. The boys both loved Mandy on this trip and she was very patient with them. They took her on walks all over the house.
We were thankful that our first few days overlapped with Scott and Mary's time there. Look at that sweet baby!
Where will Nona put 2 more grandkids next year?
We brought sickness with us, got a little better, but then left with it again- yuck! This was much of our days...
We met some of Cindy's family at Olive Garden for lunch in Wake Forest and had some time to kill. We loved Joyner Park when we lived in Wake Forest!
sleepover at Nona and PopPops
we enjoyed Christmas at DPAC
as much of Mom's family who could get together on Christmas Eve Eve
that evening, we had 2 hours of overlap time where everyone in my immediate family was in Durham :)
the boys loved this house all decked out that dances to music
Christmas Eve family coffee and disc golf date before heading to Christmas Eve celebrations at Papa and Anns
Christmas morning
Christmas in Henderson with Cindy's side of the family
Christmas afternoon (skyping in Scott and Mary)
Chad got up the next morning and went hunting in Oxford and saw a black bear... no deer, but he thought the bear was pretty cool.
chicken and dumplings and appetizers with Art's family
Even though Bett left the country, we kept up her tradition and went to a movie (Fences) and Maggianos
coffee date with these dear friends
time with the Labordes who drove up for a few days
the view from James' drone
this crew went on adventures while Mom and I shopped
several Costco trips with lots of samples
more disc golf/woods exploring
more colds/coughs, fevers, 2 minute clinic visits and 2 ear infections (1 for each boy)...
and we left with some worn out kiddos (and parents) :)
Hope you all had a Merry Christmas!
