summer garden

In mid-April, we headed to the Pickens Flea Market (always an interesting experience) to buy plants and plant our garden. It has been so neat to watch the garden grow and change since then. Chad really enjoys Grayson helping him and it is sweet to see them out there working together. And of course, G loves digging in the dirt. Here are a bunch of "garden" pictures from the past few months.

This summer we planted tomatoes, cherry tomatoes, green peppers, cucumbers, squash, zucchini, beans, okra, corn and herbs.
I think this was one of the last times Grayson wore footie pajamas :(
It would seem that G is always outside in pj's, undies, or naked. oops... sorry neighbors.
He has really enjoyed watching the veggies grow and learn to pick them.
The corn he planted from seeds and it's way taller than him now...
Our squash plants got so big! It's been really fun to watch them grow.
Here is our tomato "ripening window" as Chad calls it. And we've frozen several different things, we will see how they work out.
We've been putting squash in everything we possibly can because we have so much of it. And we've been enjoying going to the garden to decide what sides to have for dinner. Zucchini pie (recipe passed along from my aunts) and feta-squash bread are two new favorites!
